This year’s fundraiser to support the search for the elusive Bathurst Grassland Earless Dragon was a resounding success, thanks to the incredible support of our community, partners, and generous donors. The event, held both online and in-person, brought together wildlife enthusiasts, artists, and conservationists in a united effort to protect one of Australia’s most endangered species.
The fundraiser was proudly supported by Symbio Wildlife Park and the Illawarra Reptile Society, whose contributions helped make the event a memorable and impactful occasion. A highlight of this year’s fundraiser was the exclusive first prize, generously produced by the renowned artists from Eggpicnic. Their stunning design featured a unique depiction of the Grassland Earless Dragon, capturing the beauty and fragility of this critically endangered species.

The online component of the fundraiser saw an overwhelming response, with over 700 tickets sold to supporters across Australia, all vying for the incredible prizes on offer. Meanwhile, the in-person event at Symbio Wildlife Park brought the community together despite the rainy weather. Attendees enjoyed a range of activities, including baked goods, colouring-in stations, and a special appearance by a slithery star attraction, much to the delight of visitors of all ages.
The funds raised will play a crucial role in broadening the search for the Bathurst Grassland Earless Dragon. The Alliance is already in the process of scoping out potential new sites, preparing artificial spider tubes, and gearing up to deploy new survey locations in the quest to rediscover this lost species. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to uncovering the mysteries of this rare dragon and ensuring its survival for future generations.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported this year’s fundraiser—whether by purchasing tickets, attending the event, or spreading the word. Your generosity and passion for conservation are making a real difference.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our mission to rediscover the Bathurst Grassland Earless Dragon! Together, we can make a lasting impact on the future of this incredible species.
