Community Event: Bathurst Green Drinks

Late Spring saw an inspiring turn out from the Bathurst community as passionate locals came together to shine a spotlight on the endangered Bathurst Grassland Earless Dragon. Through engaging events and hands-on action, momentum is growing to save this incredible species—and it’s all powered by community spirit!

Greening Bathurst hosted the Alliance at their popular Green Drinks event, where we shared our mission to safeguard the future of this unique dragon.

The following day, Central Tablelands Local Land Services, led by senior land services officer and Alliance member Allan Wray, took the reins with an insightful workshop on grassland management. The day concluded with a visit to one of our critical monitoring sites, showcasing conservation in action.

What’s truly remarkable? The groundswell of local support. Landholders are stepping forward, volunteering their properties for surveys and committing to conservation efforts. This grassroots movement is proof that collective action can make a real impact. The Bathurst community is rising to the challenge, demonstrating a deep commitment to protecting their natural heritage. And this is just the start—exciting developments are on the horizon. Stay tuned as we continue this journey together to bring the Bathurst GED back from the brink of extinction!
